OTTAWA, Ontario — Virtually 100,000 federal staff, together with 35,000 from Canada’s tax company, went on strike Wednesday as Canada’s largest public service union and the federal authorities continued to barter amid warnings of main service disruptions.
Federal staff had been hitting the picket traces throughout Canada throughout the nation’s tax season after the union and the federal government failed to achieve a deal by a Tuesday night deadline.
